RGB innovates by creating new dedicated 'IoT' division

5 April 2016

RGB Communications add new dedicated Internet of Things (IoT) division after the recent success of Nest.

Hungerford, UK – 4th April, 2016 – RGB Communications Ltd, Technical AV Distributor, are delighted to announce the formation of a new Internet of Things (IoT) division, and to welcome first recruit Russell Wiles, as they continue to strengthen their foothold in the Smart Home market place.

RGB Communications has always been a company that likes to be at the forefront of the latest trends in modern technology. This is no different when it comes to one of the most important emerging trends - The Internet of Things (IoT).

In a bold move, RGB are setting up a brand new IoT division and in doing so are opening up to an entirely different market, in addition to continuing to offer its exceptional service and expertise in the high end AV market.

The IoT revolves around increased device-to-device communications, potentially making everyday home technology from thermostats to televisions, and everything in between, and ‘smart’. Why does it matter? More data and improved automation means using less energy yet with greater levels of comfort, security and convenience.

Having had great success with the recent launch of the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Protect, Nest Cam and accessories (all of which can be purchased on the RGB website), RGB are forming a new IoT division and will be adding a number of other IoT related products in this key growth area.

“The IoT market has the potential to transform the way we live our lives, as well as the very fabric of Commercial and Residential Installations. This view is widely held amongst industry experts and precisely why RGB are setting up a dedicated division.” Andy Atwell, Sales Director of RGB Communications.

Nest, along with many other IoT products have great appeal to the mid-market as well as the high-end. “Although many IoT products are relatively low cost and low margin, clients are becoming aware of devices like the Nest Learning Thermostat and are specifically asking their AV installer for them.” commented David Webster, RGB’s Chief Technology Officer. This combination of low cost, wide market appeal and high demand result in a massive opportunity for RGB and its customer’s to maximise business opportunities in this area.

At the forefront of RGB’s IoT division is Russell Wiles. Russell has 24 years of experience in the AV industry, having held managerial position in two leading AV companies.

“With a wealth of experience in the industry as well as a very forward thinking, professional and proactive attitude, Russell is the perfect addition to our team at RGB and has all of the attributes we need to be very successful in the IoT market place.” Gordon Innocent, CEO, RGB.

Russell is also looking forward to the challenge ahead. “With such great potential growth possibilities, the IoT market place is one that I am very excited to be part of” explained Russell Wiles, Sales Executive. “During my previous role, RGB became a valued customer of ours and always went about things in the most professional manner. When a chance arose recently to join the company, it presented an ideal opportunity for me to take on a new challenge.”

As always RGB is still ‘The’ technical AV distributor and as such will offer the same level of technical support available to its IoT product customers as it does with its existing product portfolio. RGB’s award winning training Academy will also be running courses on its IoT products, and a number of very well received ‘Nest’ training sessions have already been delivered.

The IoT market place is going to be a very busy place in the coming months. Please contact us if you would like any information on Nest, our training dates or general information about how IoT can fit into your business.
