With more 8K screens released at CES this year, we have to make sure that we are ready for the technology, even if we are still specifying 4K screens for installations. With 8K, the data bandwidth required is up to 48mbps. Therefore, to make sure that 8K signals can be distributed around a building, copper cables will have to make way for a better solution, such as fibre.
Velox Active Optical Fibre HDMI® Cables
Available in multiple fully-assembled lengths, Velox Active Optical Fibre HDMI® Cables are the ultimate solution for long distance 8K or 4K runs. Unlike other fibre products, integrators do not need to worry whether the system is going to work. Metra applied its HDMI expertise and technology to develop a product that not only delivers the full 8K spec over 48Gbps bandwidth, but also ensures compatibility between the source and display.
Velox’s ultra-premium construction and high-tech engineering results in clean, reliable performance for the demands of higher bandwidth 8K/10K content in long runs. These ultimate high speed hybrid technology fibre HDMI® cables with Ethernet are engineered with bandwidth capability up to 48Gbps for 8K content.
Although designed to be used for 8K signals, Velox cables are ideal for 4K devices, delivering resolutions up to 4K@60. All colour subsampling is supported, including 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4:2:0, deep colour, and HDR, allowing the full range 4K specs to be supported. These cables are compliant with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 and have an input impedance of 100 ohms. They are CL listed for in-wall installations and powered by 3’ micro USB cables. The Velox optical fibre system allows integrators to transmit over super-long distances without compromising 4K / HDR resolutions.
Built into every Velox fiber system is the same EDID repair technology that Metra has been using for more than 10 years in its HDMI diagnostic and repair tools. Metra’s research shows that many accessory devices are still being built with older DDC components, which in some cases may not communicate with other devices. To correct this, the company has added technology to combat voltage shift errors that may occur over the DDC (EDID) lane by automatically shifting the required voltage levels in a smooth and seamless fashion. This adapts the older systems with the more state of the art DDC electronics and ensures compatibility between devices. The result is a smooth, almost linear bandwidth with a robust 24Gbps output up to 100 meters! The difference is significant.
Velox cables are DPL Labs certified to ensure long term usability and the best possible performance. DPL testing clears away the “smoke and mirrors” common in the HDMI cable business by creating a fair but tough comparative standard against which all HDMI products can be tested.
It is certainly worth noting that not only do these cables look great, they are also designed with the best materials and tested for heavy duty use to deliver stunning picture, sound and control year after year. Metra uses 24k gold contacts to ensure the highest possible connectivity for the best signal integrity. They are also corrosion resistant and provide maximum signal transfer over the life of your system. Multiple layers of shielding prevent electromagnetic interference to maximize noise isolation as well as protecting the other components from HDMI high speed emanations.
