Historical spaces often demand a delicate balance: maintaining the integrity of treasured architectural features while introducing the latest technologies. Lubeck City Hall, an iconic symbol of gothic architecture and Hanseatic history, has achieved this balance through the integration of Vaddio PTZ Cameras and a comprehensive AV system.

Nestled in the Hanseatic city of Lubeck, the city hall is a medieval masterpiece. It served as a meeting hub for influential trade representatives in the Hanseatic League, playing a pivotal role in shaping commerce and diplomacy. Today, it remains a vital civic building, housing the mayor and council of aldermen.

The challenge? Equipping this historical gem with cutting-edge conference and streaming solutions without compromising its architectural significance.

The Challenge: Modern Needs in a Historical Space

To modernise the meeting rooms, Lubek officials envisioned a future-proof solution that could support conference operations and livestream capabilities. However, protecting the building’s monumental, cultural, and architectural heritage was non-negotiable.

This called for a carefully designed installation, adhering to strict guidelines and requiring collaboration with conservation experts.

The Solution: Seamless Integration with Vaddio PTZ Cameras

Their approach involved a thoughtful selection of tools and meticulous planning. At the core of the AV upgrade were the Vaddio PTZ cameras, chosen for the precision and versatility.

  • Two Vaddio PTZ cameras were discreetly installed on custom-made column mounts to safeguard historical masonry.
  • Two additional cameras were placed on ornamental fireplaces, blending seamlessly into the surroundings..
  • Cameras were programmed to automatically switch focus as different speakers addressed the assembly. Sensors at individually numbered desks triggered these transitions, offering an intuitive and dynamic viewing experience.
  • With one tap, users could start livestreams, toggle between display settings, and adjust audio settings.
  • Additional features included 110 microphones, two projectors, screens, displays, and HDMI ports. These components were sychronised to ensure effortless operation for non-technical personnel.

The Results: Heritage Meets Innovation

The upgraded AV system has transformed how Lubeck City Hall functions, all while preserving its historic charm.

  • Livestreaming sessions have enhanced transparency and accessibility for Lubeck’s citizens.
  • Non-technical users can easily manage the system, ensuring smooth proceedings.
  • A service level agreement includes remote monitoring and support, allowing for prompt issue resolution before disruptions occur.

Lubeck City Hall’s AV modernisation, spearheaded by Vaddio PTZ Cameras, exemplifies how historical spaces can embrace technological advancements. By combining thoughtful planning with advanced tools, the hall now serves as a beacon of both history and innovation, enriching its role as a civic hub for the digital age.
